APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING ILLUMINATION BRIGHTNESS OF COMPONENT MOUNTER

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for controlling illumination brightness of a component mounter is provided to uniformly maintain illumination brightness incident on surfaces of components by controlling the brightness to an optimum condition and reduce a time consumed in recognizing an image by minimizing error of recognition. CONSTITUTION: A head(18) is transferred in X and Y directions along a driving actuator. A test plate jig(30) is absorbed on a nozzle(16) of the head(18) and used as a substitute for mounted components. Illumination varying units emit illumination on the test plate jig(30) or the components in a multi-staged manner. A camera(40) picks up an image of the test plate jig(30) by being installed on lower parts of the illumination varying units. An illumination control part(32) is connected to each illumination varying unit to control each brightness through the number of pulses of a variable resistance or a multi staged resistance. An image recognizing part(42) recognizes an image pickup and is connected to the camera(40). A histogram examining apparatus examines brightness distribution with respect to the illumination of the illumination varying units and is connected to the image recognizing part(42). The illumination control part(32) and the image recognizing part(42) are connected to a central processing apparatus(48) including a monitor for a user to directly confirm the picked image.
