PURPOSE: A method for processing a communication cable fault is provided to continuously progress communication between the processors without a re-initialization process, when a temporary fail of a bus is restored, and to doubly implement cables for the communication. Therefore, the communication is rapidly performed. CONSTITUTION: If an interrupt notifying a communication fault between processors is generated, an exchange sets up the second resister, to prevent a regeneration of the interrupt. The exchange decides a fault state by referring to the first register(215). If the exchange decides that a cable is demounted, the exchange sets up the third register for performing communication with a different cable except the demounted cable, and clears the first register and reattempts the communication(223,225). If the exchange decides that a different fault except the cable demounting exists, the exchange checks a present-used cable, and sets up the third register for performing the communication with a different cable except the present-used cable. The exchange clears the first register and reattempts the communication(227). The exchange sets up the second register, to generate a fault notifying interrupt.
