PURPOSE: A calling identity recognition method in a switching system is provided to perform a calling number translation service at a call incoming side before a switching is done at a call outgoing side so that it can prevent a waste of network resources. CONSTITUTION: A calling identity recognition method comprises steps of a call outgoing ASS(Access Switching Subsystem) detecting an outgoing call(101), requesting a number translation on the outgoing call number to an NTR(Number translation Receiver), and a call incoming occupation to a call incoming ASS(102), the call outgoing ASS going to a call incoming occupation notification receiving wait state(103), detecting the call incoming occupation notification receiving(104), the call outgoing ASS connecting a time switch to connect a normal call line(108), the call outgoing ASS informing the call incoming ASS of a time switch connection(109), the call outgoing ASS going to a call incoming response receiving wait state(110).
