PURPOSE: A dial-based menu selection method is provided to easily select a desired menu by clicking a button when many application programs are activated and displayed on a screen under a windows environment. CONSTITUTION: A user clicks a dial-based menu using a mouse, and a dial-based menu is displayed for thereby selecting an initial menu(10). It is checked whether a selection button of a mouse is pushed(12). In the case that a selection button of a mouse is pushed, the current position of a cursor is computed(14). If the mouse button is not pushed, a menu displayed on the current dial-based menu is selected(16). If the mouse button is pushed in a step 12, the current position of the cursor is computed, and it is detected whether the mouse is moved, and the position before the mouse is moved and the position after the mouse is moved are compared(18). If the position value after the mouse is moved exceeds a certain value, namely, exceeds a set upper and lower limit value, the sub-menu is changed and displayed(20 and 22). If the position value after the mouse is moved exceeds a certain set value, namely, exceeds a left and right limit value, a main menu is changed and displayed(24 and 26). Since the changed menu are displayed the dial-based menu, a user easily recognizes the currently selected menu.
