PURPOSE: A vacuum type apparatus for manufacturing feed by using food wastes and a method thereof are provided, to treat wet food wastes effectively without generating offensive odors by evaporating, dehydrating and reducing the wastes. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a cover device(20) with a lock device for sealing up an airtight container filled with food wastes, a plurality of heating devices(42,43) having an infrared bulb(25) heating and sterilizing the food wastes, a condensing device(52) composed of a cooling fan(54), a pressure switch(61) and a steam trap(55) for condensing steam of the wastes generated by the heating devices to water, a suction tube(49) with a filter net(50) attached thereto that is placed in the airtight container and penetrated vacuuming devices(51,56,60), and a control part contacted to the heating devices for optionally heating the side faces and the bottom faces of the airtight container. The method includes the following steps of: (i) vacuuming the airtight container filled with food wastes; (ii) heating the vacuumed food wastes with the heating devices; (iii) evaporating water of the food wastes at less than 100deg.C; (iv) condensing the evaporated steam of the food wastes by applying pressure to the wastes; (v) cooling the condensed steam into water and discharging the water to the outside though the steam trap; and then (vi) heating and drying the resulting food waste at less than 100deg.C to contain less than 3% of water.
