PURPOSE: A method for controlling a current supply of a wireless portable terminal is provided to reduce a consumed power at a minimum when the portable terminal is in a stand by state so as to use the portable terminal for a long time. CONSTITUTION: A controller sets up a communication standby mode state to a wireless portable terminal(300). The controller decides whether an initial time(T1) elapses(310). If not, the terminal is in the communication standby mode state. If the initial time(T1) elapses, the controller turns off a power(320), and decides whether a signal synchronizing time(T2) with a repeater elapses according to a transmitting signal period of the repeater(330). If not, the controller maintains a control mode state. If the signal synchronizing time(T2) elapses, the controller turns on the power, and receives signals from the repeater(350). The controller decides whether contents for being processed among the signals received from the repeater exist(360). If not, the terminal turns off the power to become the control mode state(360). If the contents for being processed exist, the controller performs a signal process(370). If the signal process is not completed, the controller continues the signal processing operation. If the signal process is completed, the controller operates the terminal to be a normal receiving operation state.
