PURPOSE: An analog to digital converter is provided to be capable of realizing a high-speed operation by determining plural binary digits at the same time. CONSTITUTION: In an analog to digital converter, a first digital to analog converter(8) receives a first digital signal to output a first analog signal. A second digital to analog converter(9) receives a second digital signal to output a second analog signal Each comparator(5-7) compares a corresponding reference voltage and an input analog signal. A controller(12) fixes an expected bit value of the first digital signal to a decided bit value, and outputs the decided bit value of the first digital signal to the second digital to analog converter, as the second digital signal. A successive approximation register(11) outputs a final digital signal when all bits of the first digital signal are fixed to a decided bit value, and outputs a first digital signal containing an expected bit value and a decided bit value when a part of the bits are fixed to a decided bit value.
