PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for supplying a can of a battery assembling unit is provided to exactly sense whether a can exists by applying an impact on a can supplying unit and thus smoothly supplying the can. CONSTITUTION: A can supplying box(10) accommodates a plurality of cans. A can separating roller(20) separates a can from the box(10). A can escapement(30) transfers the can separated from the can separating roller(20). A can supplying part(40) supplies the can transferred from the can escapement(30). An air cylinder(70) applies an impact on an outer wall of the can supplying box(10). A can supply instruction sensor(50) is installed within the can supplying box(10). A can existence detecting sensor(60) is installed within the can supplying box(10) and detects whether the can exists.
