PURPOSE: A method for preparing white polyester film is provided, to obtain polyester film which is light and smooth, has good mechanical properties and heat-resistance, and has improved printing property. CONSTITUTION: The white polyester film is prepared by mixing polyester consisting of ethylene terephthalate and ethylene naphthalate, 1-10 parts by weight of α-olefin resin and 5-20 parts by weight of spherical calcium carbonate particle, wherein the main repeating unit of the polyester resin comprises 70-90 parts by weight of ethylene terephthalate with the limiting viscosity of 0.400-1.000 dl/g and 10-30 parts by weight of ethylene naphthalate with the same limiting viscosity, and at least one face of the film is coated with water-soluble coating solution comprising water-soluble polyester and polyurethane containing sulfonate. Preferably the mean size of calcium carbonate is 0.1-2.0 micrometers.
