PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device is provided to be capable of lightening and sliming a liquid crystal display device by reducing a thickness and a weight of a polarization layer. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device comprises transparent electrodes(4,4'), insulation layers(6,6') and orientation layers(8,8') which are stacked on upper and lower substrates(2,2'), respectively. A liquid crystal material(10) is injected in a space between the upper and lower substrates(2,2'), and polarization layers(12,12') are formed on front and rear planes of the device. The polarization layers(12,12') are formed by coating the dye having lyotropic liquid crystal phase directly on the upper and lower substrates(2,2').
