PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display is provided to be capable of increasing an aperture rate by reducing an area occupied by a storage capacitor. CONSTITUTION: A gate electrode(24) line is formed in one direction, with a pixel electrode(30) interposed therebetween. A data electrode(28) line is formed in a direction perpendicular to the gate line(24) line and is contacted with the semiconductor layer(22) so as to be used as a source electrode of a thin film transistor. A common electrode(24') line is formed in the same direction as the gate electrode(24) line. A black matrix layer(26) is formed at a lower part of the data electrode(28) line and an upper part of the common electrode line(24') and blocks light. A pixel electrode(30) is contacted with the drain region of each semiconductor layer(22) and the black matrix layer(26).
