PURPOSE: An electron gun for color cathode ray tube is provided to form an asymmetry tripolar-lens by improving structures of the first and the second electrodes. CONSTITUTION: An electron gun for color cathode ray tube is formed with a tripolar portion and two or more electrodes. The tripolar portion is formed with two or more electrodes for controlling the emitting amount of electron beam. The two or more electrodes form a main lens in order to focus the electron beam to a screen. A vertical barrier rib(20) or a rectangular slot is formed at both sides of one or more electron beam passing hole(4a). The first electrode(4) is formed with the vertical barrier rib(20) or the rectangular slot and the electron beam passing holes(4a). The second electrode is formed with a horizontal barrier rib or a rectangular slot and electron beam passing holes.
