PURPOSE: A fuel injection pump is provided to compact structure and to easily adjust an initial position by changing the height of a shaft through adjustment of the thickness of a height adjusting washer assembled with a timing rod. CONSTITUTION: In a fuel injection pump, a control sleeve(17) is slidingly installed in the outer circumference of a plunger and a timing rod(29) is connected to the control sleeve to change axial relative position of the plunger and the control sleeve via rotation of the timing rod. A contact pin(36) is protruded onto a bolt hole of the timing rod having a guide groove(46), and a threaded portion(45) of a T-shaped shaft(44) is inserted into a washer(43) for combination of a spring washer(42) with the T-shaped shaft via a nut(41). The contact pin of the T-shaped shaft is inserted to a contact groove(22) of the control sleeve. Herein, axial position of the control sleeve is determined by the contact pin of the T-shaped shaft of which position is adjustable depending on the thickness of the washer. Therefore, injection timing is changed. Further, the control sleeve is easily connected with the timing rod and control of the initial position of the control sleeve is easy.
