PURPOSE: A method for calculating real width of road for an alarm device of traffic lane escape is provided to rapidly calculate a real width of the road using video signal capturing the traffic lane with a camera when driving a car. CONSTITUTION: A method for calculating real width of road for an alarm device of traffic lane escape includes a step of capturing the traffic lane with a camera, inputting lane video signal(20), removing noise from the video signal(21), separating into multi-resolution phases and extracting lane edge(23), a step of modelling the road and calculating camera parameter of video signal coordinate according to the position of the camera using the least square method(24), a step of calculating the real width of the road with the calculated camera parameter(25), and a step of determining whether or not the car escapes the traffic lane by the calculated real width and alarming when the car escapes the lane(28).
