PURPOSE: A vehicle navigation apparatus having a geometrical information update function and a geometrical information update method thereof are provided to update geometrical information which may be frequently changed with a temporally corrected geometrical data storing device or a re-recordable geometrical data storing device. CONSTITUTION: A method for updating geometrical information of a vehicle navigation apparatus includes the steps of determining whether a new geometrical data is wirelessly transmitted from a center in charge of providing a geometrical data relating to vehicles(200), and if transmitted, recording the transmitted geometrical data to a temporally corrected geometrical data storing element separately from a main geometrical data storing element which stores basic geometrical data in the vehicle navigation apparatus(202), wherein if a current location of a vehicle is recognized in response to the beginning of the operation of the apparatus(204), a geometrical data with reference to the current location is first investigated in the temporally corrected geometrical data storing element(206).
