PURPOSE: An impact absorber of car seat prevents the center of the body of a passenger from being pushed forward by moving the center of the body downward on a car crash. CONSTITUTION: A cylinder(14) including a spring(18) and a compression piston rod(16) is mounted in the inside of a seat back(10). A movable plate(26) is mounted on the bottom of a seat cushion(12). The center of the seat cushion(12) is cut vertically. A movable seat cushion(13) where the front of the movable plate(26) is fixed on a rail(38) by a hinge(28b) is formed. A check valve(22) connects an exhaust manifold(20) of an engine and the cylinder(14) with a connecting pipe(30). The end of a piston rod(16) protruded under the cylinder(14) is connected with a hinge(28a). When a car crash is generated, the ECU(34) opens the check valve(22) and the negative pressure of the exhaust manifold(20) is supplied to the cylinder(14) through the check valve(22). The piston(16) of the inside of the cylinder(14) compresses the spring(18) by the negative pressure and is protruded downward. At the same time, the piston(16) pushes downward the end of a frame(40), which is connected, with the hinge(28a) of the inside of the movable seat cushion(13). Therefore, the rear of the movable seat cushion(13) is sagged downward around the hinge(28b) of the movable seat cushion(13) and, simultaneously, the center of the body of a passenger is pushed downward. Thus, the center of the body of a passenger is prevented from being pushed forward.
