Apparatus for mixing a material contained in a vessel (4) comprises one or more flow channels (5, 6, 7) and at least one pair of first and second members (1, 2, 3) which are coaxially mounted one within the other about an axis of rotation such that their facing surfaces curve around said axis defining a chamber therebetween. At least one (2, 3) of the first and second members having a non-circular curvature, the first and second members (1, 2, 3) being rotatable relative to one another about said axis to thereby produce a pumping force to force material through said flow channels (5, 6, 7). The radially outermost (3) of said first and second members moves to a wall of the vessel relative to stress and displace material present between the mixing apparatus and the wall of the vessel (4). |
