The instrument panel (1) comprising a carrier layer, a plastic foam layer and an outer skin is characterized by the fact that the plastic foam layer in the zone of the airbag module or flap (2) is constituted in such a way that production of foam particles during sudden opening of the flap is prevented or reduced. The foam for this zone is introduced separately from the foam for the rest of the instrument panel. Also claimed is a method for producing such an instrument panel.
