IMAGE QUALITY CORRECTING CIRCUIT

An image quality correcting circuit includes a mean calculating section (10) for calculating the mean of luminance level of each pixel of the video signal received at the video signal input terminal (12), an occurrence counter (13) for counting the occurrences of each luminance level calculated by the mean calculating section (10) for every predetermined levels, a linear interpolating section (15) for drawing a correction characteristic line by linear interpolation according to the count output point of the occurrence counter (13), and an image quality correcting section (16) for correcting the inputted video signal by using the correction characteristics line. The correction characteristic line is a line continuously consisting of linearly interpolated lines draw on a diagram showing the luminance level as the abscissas and the occurrence as the ordinates. The image quality correcting section (16) corrects the video signal inputted through the image signal input terminal (12) by using the correction characteristic line.
