A process for producing microcapsules by in situ polymerization whereby microcapsules having a powdery substance as the core and a melamine-formaldehyde resin as a wall film can be stably produced; and microcapsules obtained by this process which have a rigid and uniform melamine-formaldehyde resin wall film. The above process comprises: blending the components (A) to (D) as described below to give a dispersion of the component (A); and reacting the component (B) to form a melamine-formaldehyde resin coating film around the component (A) serving as the core, thereby forming microcapsules having the component (A) as the core enclosed therein: (A) a non-pesticide core powder; (B) a hardly water-soluble melamine-formaldehyde resin prepolymer; (C) a condensation product of at least one of naphthalenesulfonic acid and an alkylnaphthalenesulfonic acid with formaldehyde or its salt; and (D) an aqueous medium.
|
