The invention relates to a device and a method for operating a mobile terminal operated by battery (1), notably a message device (MC) which can be incorporated into a stationary and/or mobile device (F1..Fn), especially a vehicle, a construction machine and/or a container, in an energy-saving manner. To provide an energy-saving mode the device (7) comprises a logic circuit (3) which serves to control a switch (8) arranged in the voltage supply of the battery (1). The logic circuit (3) comprises a memory in which data can be stored for changing the operating state by controlling the switch (8). In this way an energy-saving mode for a microcontroller-controlled component can be provided. |
