The present invention relates to a process for preparing granular detergent products in which a liquid binder component comprising an acid precursor of an anionic surfactant and a hydrotrope is contacted with a solid particulate starting material comprising a neutralising agent in a low shear mixer and t he mixture granulated, the hydrotrope being present at a level of at least 1 % by weight of the acid precursor of the anionic surfactant.
