A constrained vibration damping material suitable for use in automobiles, interior materials, building materials, precision machinery, electronic devices, appliances, aircraft and spacecraft. The constrained vibration damping material comprises a plastic layer including a mixture of a plastic base and an active component for increasing the dipole moment in the base plastic, and two metal plates that hold the plastic layer on both sides. The structure described above is effective against vibrations and electromagnetic waves generated from machines and appliances, resulting in improvement of the quality, durability and noise reduction of products.
