<p>A process for economically producing a polycarbonate of excellent quality having a high degree of polymerization and a high molecular weight through a small number of steps. The process is characterized by forming an oligocarbonate from an aromatic hydroxy compound, carbon monoxide, and oxygen through an oxidative carbonylation reaction and heightening the molecular weight of the oligocarbonate through a transesterification reaction.</p> |
