An optical fiber coating method comprising the steps of applying an injected first resin (11) to a periphery of an optical fiber (1) while inserting the optical fiber (1) into a first die hole(3a) provided in a first coating die (3), and further applying an injected second coating resin (15) to a periphery of the first coating resin (11) while inserting the optical fiber (1) into a second die hole (4a) provided in a second coating die (4), wherein the first and second die holes (3a, 4a) are arranged coaxially, the second coating resin (15) is injected into the second die hole (4a) through the clearance (10) formed between the first and second coating dies (3, 4), the first coating die (3) has a protrusion (5) around the outlet of the first die hole (3a) projecting in the passing direction of the optical fiber (1) so as to regulate a flow of the second coating resin (15) into the line with the passing direction of the optical fiber (1). <IMAGE>
