The LAN consists of at least one network node (1) and a number of workstations (2,21-25). Each node and/or each workstation is associated with a group with communications functions, to which the cable connected terminal devices (4-6) and the cordless terminal devices (7) have access via corresp. interface circuits. Links are set up for an information exchange as required. Links can be established between the cable connected and the cordless terminals via the groups associated with each node and/or workstation, using appropriate communications functions. Links can be established between the cable connected or the cordless terminals associated with different workstations via their respective groups and nodes.
