The invented hand operated protective and defensive apparatus (1) has a battery powered light source and a spraying device for a protective and defensive spray. The apparatus (1) consists of two jackets (2, 13) connected with each other. On the first jacket (2) there is arranged a light source with front arranged reflector (3) with radiation direction in the first jacket (2) longitudinal axis (4), and on the cylindrical surface thereof there is arranged an electric light switch. In the first jacket (2) there is performed a battery compartment (5) for cylindrical batteries. End obturator of the first jacket (2) on the side opposite to the reflector (3) is formed by the second jacket (13) that is removable coupled with the first jacket (2). The second jacket (13) is provided with an adapter (8) for a spiral spring (10) making in the light source electrical circuit electrical connection to frame when the batteries are put in the battery compartment (5). In the second jacket (13) there is performed a space for accommodating therein a spray sparklet (14). The space (13) has at least two holes (19, 20) The first hole being the spraying hole (19) is arranged close to a the spray sparklet (14) spray nozzle (21) and the other hole being a control hole (20) for controlling by a finger (25) is arranged within the region of the spray sparklet (14) control element (22).
