In a booster, eg. for a brake or clutch, in which braking reaction is transmitted directly to a valve body and not to the brake pedal, "feel" is provided by a pseudo-reaction imparting means comprising one spring (243, 542, Figs.2 and 8) or more springs 336, 342 (or 436, 442, Figure 7) connected directly or indirectly to a brake pedal 321 to impart a reaction which depends on an amount of depression of the brake pedal. The reaction is initially imparted to the brake pedal 321 by spring 336, and subsequently by springs 336 and 342.
