PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for growing a single crystal capable of performing the monitoring, observing, measuring, etc., of the interior of a chamber even when a large apparatus indispensable to the growth of the single crystal is present in the periphery of the apparatus for growing the single crystal and peripheral devices such as a measuring device cannot be installed. SOLUTION: This apparatus for growing a single crystal is obtained by installing a prism 32 near a window 30 in a narrow gap formed between a chamber 10 and a magnetic field generating device 28, providing a condensing lens 34 near the prism 32 and arranging one end of an optical fiber 36 near the condensing lens 34. Light emitted from the interior of the chamber 10 to the exterior of the chamber 10 is deflected by the prism 32 and the deflected light is condensed with the condensing lens 34 to transmit the condensed light to a measuring instrument 38 with the optical fiber 36.
