PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a chemical for boilers which is capable of exhibiting an excellent corrosion inhibition effect particularly on middle- and low-pressure boilers, has high safety to human bodies and is industrially advantageous by incorporating straight chainα,ω-aminocarboxylic acids as effective components therein and not incorporating hydrazine therein. SOLUTION: This corrosion inhibitor contains the straight chainα,ω- aminocarboxylic acids expressed by general formula HOOC-(CH2)n-NH2 ((n) in the formula is an integer from 5 to 11) as effective components. The concentrations at the time of use of the compounds, are preferably specified to >=100 mg/litter of boiler water. The example thereof includes 5- aminopentamethylene-1-carboxylic acid (6-aminohexanic acid), 6- aminohexamethylene-1-carboxylic acid (7-aminoheptanoic acid), or the like. These,α,ω-aminocarboxylic acids are nearly neutral and hardly affects the pH of the chemical for boilers.
