PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method capable of obtaining a metal composite material of a small and uniform thickness and a metallic sintered compact of a small thickness formed by sintering the metal composite material. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the metal composite material has a step of mixing at least metal powder, binder, dispersant, and solvent to prepare a slurry and a step of forming the slurry into a sheet by the doctor blade method. At this time, at least one or more kinds selected from polyglycerol ester, alkanol amide, and alkyl phosphoric ester are used as the dispersant. Moreover, the metallic sintered compact can be obtained by forming the resultant sheet of the metal matrix composite into the prescribed shape and then sintering it.
