PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate a rearward safety confirmation and controllability by a driver when a vehicle moves backward by displaying a predicted course route excellent in visibility when the predicted course route of the vehicle is displayed superimposedly on a rearward image when the vehicle moves backward. SOLUTION: This monitor device displays the predicted course route of a vehicle according to a steering angle on display means 3 when the vehicle moves backward by superimposing it on the rearward image photographed by photographing means 2. In this case, brightness data acquisition means 9 obtains backward image brightness data values. The brightness setting means 8A sets the brightness values of the predicted course route according to the brightness data values of the rearward image from the brightness data acquisition means 9 so that the predicted course route can be well recognized visually in the rearward image.
