PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape printer in which slack of a print tape can be removed appropriately without wasting the print tape. SOLUTION: The tape printer comprises means for feeding a print tape from a tape cassette, means for printing on the print tape being fed by ink jet system, means 227 for detecting a replaced tape cassette, and means 221 for controlling the tape feed means wherein the control means 221 controls the tape printing means to pull the print tape slightly when the detecting means 221 detects replacement of the tape cartridge.
