PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition capable of expressing preventing and curing activities for diseases accompanied with bone-weight decrease, hypertension, etc., by bringing the composition to contain a stilbene compound included in polygonaceous plants, vitraceous plants, etc. SOLUTION: This medicinal and food composition containing a stilbene-based compound contains at least one species selected from compounds expressed by the formula [A and B are each a halogen, amino, amidino, anilinoamide, mercapto, sulfonic acid, etc.; (n) and (m) are each 0-5], (e.g. 4,4'-stilbene diol, 3,5-stilbene diol, etc.), and its polymers as effective ingredients.
