PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To instantaneously burn a mixture in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine includes a nozzle 30 located so as to cover a fuel injector 2 and a spark plug 3, and formed therein with a hole 20 for causing the part of a fuel stream to pass through a combustion chamber 21 and causing the remaining part of the fuel stream to remain therein. The part of the fuel stream before ignition, which has passed through the hole 20 creates a lean auxiliary mixture in the combustion chamber 21 in its entirety, and the remaining fuel part of the fuel stream creates an igniting mixture within the nozzle 30. The igniting mixture is ignited by the ignition of the spark plug 3 in order to create burnt gas jetted into the lean auxiliary mixture outside of the nozzle 30, through the hole 20, and the burnt gas passing through the hole 20 is torn off by the fuel jet stream after ignition so as to form flame kernels. Then, the flame kernels are diffused in the combustion chamber 21 in its entirety, and the lean auxiliary mixture is burned by the diffused flame kernels. |
