PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition capable of stabilizing an isothiazolone compound in a high concentration in a liquid state as it is, having ready handleability by combining the isothiazolone compound with phenol. SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) a 3-isothiazolone compound (preferably a mixture of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and 2-methyl-4- isothiazolin-3-one, especially preferably 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one) and (B) phenol. The weight ratio of the component A to the component B is preferably 1:100 to 60:40 and the concentration of the component A is preferably 0.01-60 wt.% in the composition. The composition is applicable to various water systems such as cooling water, paper pulp, aqueous coating material, etc. Consequently the objective liquid composition having ready handleability, capable of solving corrosion of facilities due to absence of metal salt is provided.
