PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam reforming catalyst for methanol and a reforming device using the catalyst, which are excellent in heat efficiency and dispense with a catalyst carrier to improve workability and handling property and are further improved in durability. SOLUTION: High catalytic ability as the steam reforming catalyst for methanol, which is used for accelerating a reaction to produce hydrogen and carbon dioxide from methanol and steam, is attained by using a metallic fine wire controlled to have >=10 m2/g specific surface area and 20-100 μm wire diameter or a metallic foil having >=20 μm to <=50 μm thickness which consists essentially of copper, to secure wide surface area, that is, wide contact area with a reactive material, and because the catalyst carrier is dispensed with and the catalyst is freely worked as it is, the handling property and the degree of freedom of device design are improved. |
