PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use an electric stapler with power supply from a plug socket by supplying the power boosted by a booster built in a main body to a solenoid on the basis of the operation of a trigger switch. SOLUTION: An electric stapler is provided with a hammer to be moved downward with the excitation of a solenoid 4, a spring for energizing the hammer upward, a trigger switch 7 and a control unit 8. The control unit 8 for boosting the power to be supplied to the solenoid 4 has a booster 11 formed of an electrolytic capacitor, a charging circuit for charging the booster 11, a discharging circuit 13 for discharging on the basis of the input signal from the trigger switch 7, and a mono-stable multi-vibrator 14 for setting the discharging time. Since the booster 11 is built in, sufficiently strong stapling is enabled without using a booster box, and the power can be supplied from any plug socket, and workability is improved.
