PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil strainer to efficiently drop dust into a dust collection place. SOLUTION: In the oil strainer provided with an upper body 1 having an outflow port 5, a lower body 2 having an inflow port 6, and a filter 3 sandwiched with both bodies 1, 2, the dust in the oil can be collected on a filter surface right under the outflow port of the upper body or in its vicinity due to the total flow of the oil by forming a recessed dust collection place 9 on the bottom of the lower body positioned right under the outflow port. Since the dust collection place is formed on the bottom of the lower body positioned right under the outflow port, when an engine is stopped, the oil flows down on the filter surface right under the outflow port 5 via the outflow port from an oil pump side and the dust collected on the filter surface efficiently drops on the corresponding dust collection place.
