PRODUCTION OF SHEET GLASS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing double-layered sheet glass which does not require manual labor when integrally processing the each other's peripheral edges of the sheet glass. SOLUTION: This process for producing the sheet glass includes a processing stage of arranging the second sheet glass 3 so as to face the first sheet glass 2 via a space member 4 interposed between the each other's peripheral edges and irradiating the respective end faces of the arranged first and second glass sheets 2 and 3 and the outer peripheral surface of the space member 4 with a laser beam 5, thereby integrating the peripheral edges of the first and second glass sheets 2 and 3 via the space member 4. In such a case, the respective end faces of the first and second sheets glass 2 and glass 3 and the outer peripheral surface of the space member 4 are irradiated the laser beam 5 having a spot shape to irradiate over the entire thickness of the first and second glass sheets 2 and 3 and the space member 4.
