PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel control device for an engine, capable of controlling control errors in a fuel metering part, even if the fuel metering part is not cable of following the operation of an actuator soon. SOLUTION: A position sensor 1 has a sensor coil 5 and an object detecting part 6. The sensor coil 5 detects the metering position of a fuel metering part 4, based on detection of a position of the object detecting part 6 which moves integrally with the moving part of an electro-magnetic actuator 3. Based on the detection, a control means 2 controls the operation of the actuator 3. Based on the operation, a fuel control device for an engine is structured so as to control the metering position of the fuel metering part 4. In the fuel control device, the object detecting part 6 is provided in the fuel metering part 4. Even if the fuel metering part 4 cannot follow since the operation of the actuator 3 becomes quick by a sharp speed control operation or the like, a detecting position of the fuel metering part 4, and the actual position of the fuel metering part 4 are matched, and control errors in the fuel metering part 4 are hardly generated, since the object detecting part 6 is provided with the fuel metering part 4 itself.
