PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce space occupied by a suction cowl in an engine room by shortening the horizontal width of the suction cowl without causing the problem of drainage failure. SOLUTION: In a car body structure provided with a suction cowl 8 for taking external air in front of a cowl box 5 for supporting the lower end of a window shield glass 4, the suction cowl 8 is set to have a horizontal width so as to face a side upper member 9 constituting the side wall fade of an engine room 2 by keeping a specified gap, and rainwater or the like flowing into the suction cowl 8 is discharged through a drainage pipe 10 provided in a groove bottom. Also, a drainage gutter 11 for discharging rainwater or the like to the outside of the vehicle is provided nearer the outside of the vehicle than both sides of the suction cowl 8 and in a rear side in the front end of the cowl box 5.
