PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a tripod stepladder in a closed state so as to become in an open state, or to operate the tripod stepladder in the open state so as to become the closed state, as easily as possible. SOLUTION: There is provided a tripod stepladder which comprises a front- side ladder-like leg body 2 having a wider lower portion and a narrower upper portion, and a rear-side support leg body 3, with upper ends of the leg bodies 2, 3 being openably connected to each other. An opening operating rod 9 is provided for the tripod stepladder, and one end thereof is pivotally connected to the rear-side support leg body 3 to form a pivoted portion 1, while the other end thereof forms a free end 8 having a length frontward extending from the ladder-like leg body 2. By horizontally pulling or thrusting the opening operating rod 9 at the front of the ladder-like leg body 2, the support leg body 3 can be operated so as to be opened or closed with respect to the ladder-like leg body 2.
