PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a helmet composed of a plastic or a metal to have excellent impact resistance and good operability. SOLUTION: This impact resistant helmet obtained by attaching and fixing a hollow molded product 2 having a hollow shape and truncated pyramid-shaped appearance on the outer surface of the body 1 of the helmet, and fixing ceramic chips 4 on the surface of the truncated pyramid is characterized by a rib 3 formed at the lower periphery of the hollow molded product 2. When fixing the ceramic chips 4 to the hollow molded product 2, the ceramic chips can be fixed to prescribed positions without chinks by the rib at the lower part periphery of the hollow molded product 2. The helmet body 1 is preferably formed out of a high strength fiber-reinforced plastic, and the hollow molded product 2 is preferably attached and fixed to the helmet body 1 so as to be freely attached and detached.
