DECOLORIZATION OF LIGHT OIL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for decoloring colored light oil formed by the super-deep desulfurization of a light oil fraction. SOLUTION: The hydrotreating of light oil colored by the hydrodesulfurization reducing the sulfur content down to <=0.05 mass% is carried out in the presence of (1) a crystalline aluminosilicate-containing inorganic oxide catalyst, supporting a group VI metal and/or a group VIII metal at 0.1-15 MPa and 100-370 deg.C or (2) an activated carbon catalyst supporting a group VI metal and/or a group VIII metal at 0.1-15 MPa and 100-370 deg.C.
