A valve member for a recording liquid supply port connectable with a liquid ejection recording means for supplying recording liquid to said liquid ejecting means, comprises an elastically deformable plate-like member; a plug member on one side of said plate-like member; a supporting member for supporting said plate-like portion on said liquid container, said supporting member being on said one side thereof; wherein said plug member has A sealing portion, adjacent a free end portion thereof, for substantially plugging said liquid supply port by being inserted into the liquid supply port, and a liquid feeding portion, away from the free end portion, said liquid feeding portion having a cross-sectional area which is smaller than that of said sealing portion, wherein the cross-sectional area is in a plane parallel with the liquid supply port.
