PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an advantageous method for producing a ceramic eutectic crystal having homogeneous and dense structure, especially a rare earth aluminate-based compound-containing eutectic crystal. SOLUTION: A powder of ceramic eutectic crystal is subjected to crystal growth by using a discharge plasma device and allowing the powder to stand in vacuum or under 5-100 MPa pressure in nonoxidative atmosphere at 500-2,000 deg.C for 1-120 min to provide the objective ceramic eutectic crystal. Preferably, the powder of the eutectic crystal comprising alumina and a rare earth aluminate-based compound is subjected to the crystal growth by using the discharge plasma device and allowing the powder to stand in vacuum or under 5-100 MPa pressure in the nonoxidative atmosphere at 1,300-1,700 deg.C for 1-120 min to provide a sintered body having the rare earth aluminate-based eutectic crystal structure. |
