PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct piles of good quality even if the rotational speed of an auger rod varies. SOLUTION: A soil improving machine includes a movement detector for detecting the amount of movement of an auger rod 3 and a rotational frequency detector 6 for detecting the rotational frequency of the auger rod. The soil improving machine also includes a control means which calculates the speed of rise or fall of the auger rod 3 and the number of times of blade cutting from the detected amount of movement and rotational frequency of the auger rod 3 to generate a command for varying the speed of rise or fall of the auger rod 3 so that a preset reference number of times of blade cutting is reached.
