PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an imaging apparatus having a plurality of imaging sections being supported in a predetermined positional relation by a supporting means in which a high quality image having no positional shift can be formed by forming the supporting means to thermally expand freely depending on the temperature variation thus keeping the positional relation of the plurality of imaging sections. SOLUTION: As a member for holding full-multi type ink jet recording heads 1C, 1M, 1Y, 1Bk for ejecting cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks, a head holder 2001 is provided at the recording head section of a printer section using an iron based material. The recording heads 1C-1Y are held in the head holder 2001 using sub-head holders 2002-2004 made of an aluminum alloy. The recording head 1Bks is supported directly by the head holder 2001. According to the arrangement, image shift due to fluctuation in the inter-head distance caused by thermal expansion/contraction is prevented.
