PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a cleaning catalyst which is excellent in light-off performance and heat resistance while excellent exhaust gas cleaning performance can be developed by generating effectively oxidizing reaction even in a small number of contact chances. SOLUTION: For this catalyst, the outermost layer of a wash coat applied to a carrier is a layer formed by uniformly dispersing cerium oxide in alumina, and rhodium is carried on the outermost layer by water absorption. Then, after applying wash coat to the support by using a slurry containing ceria- impregnated alumina, the rhodium is supported by water absorption on the outermost layer to which the wash coat is applied. |
